What is Wellness and Resilience Coaching? How is it different from therapy?

Individual Wellness Sessions are considered a form of coaching, which is distinct from psychotherapy. Coaches offer a form of professional support intended to help you to identify your strengths to promote overall growth and well-being and to guide you in cultivating skills, practices, and resources to help you address challenges that arise in your work life.

While there is some overlap between therapy and coaching, in that coaches support you to find avenues to growth and self-care, coaching differs from psychotherapy in that coaching is not the appropriate method of treatment to address a mental health diagnosis. Referrals to psychotherapy will be offered if it is determined that will be a more appropriate level of support.

Coaching can be done alongside personal therapy and your coach can speak with you about identifying the appropriate scope and focus of your Wellness Consultation sessions. Please don’t hesitate to ask your Wellness Coach any questions about the nature of the coaching relationship.

Do you provide confidentiality? Who will have access to information about my sessions?

We do not disclose any personally identifiable information shared with us during the course of providing our services.

Any information shared during an individual coaching session will never be shared without your consent. The only exception to this policy is when TWWP staff believe an individual is at risk for imminent injury or harm. In this scenario, we first seek your consent and, if unable to gain it, do our best to protect your confidentiality in taking steps to prevent injury or harm. Please don’t hesitate to ask your Coach any questions about our confidentiality policy.

During group coaching sessions, teams will identify issues impacting their well-being and resilience that may benefit from organizational attention. The themes that arise from this team level work may be shared with leadership, or TWWP points of contact. Any information shared will solely be thematic. The confidentiality of all individuals who participate in TWWP services is the bedrock of our practice. Because confidentiality is so crucial to building resilience we also ask group participants to respect the confidentiality of other members of the group.

We understand and appreciate the level of trust you put in us when making use of our services. We are committed to protecting and respecting that trust that is essential to our work together.
